Serena Named Guest Juror for The Crossing 16th Annual Juried Exhibition
March 3, 2021
Serena Bates has been named the Guest Juror for the Hygienic Art organization
in New London as they present their 16th Annual Juried Exhibition called
The Crossing.
This exhibition continues with the original concept of getting folks to cross
the bridge literally and become involved in Hygienic Art and downtown New London.
This show is open to all themes and we hope to receive artists' most recent
and best work.

This two-volume book is the synthesis of summerlong explorations by Acadia Mezzofanti, a
contemporary photographic artist. In Volume 1, through her lens she examines contemporary
artistic identity. In the companion Volume 2, the focus becomes expanding boundaries for the
underrepresented, including women, in arts and culture today.

Acadia Mezzofanti Explores Women In Art & Culture
Acadia Mezzofanti is a Boston-area emerging female photographic artist. On an artistic-creative
grant from Bowdoin College, Acadia is conducting a summer project as she examines, through her lens,
artistic identity, as well as expanding boundaries for the underrepresented, while highlighting,
among other groups, women in arts and culture. Influential cultural leaders, patrons of arts and
culture, many visual and performing artists, plus leading Boston-area cultural organizations and
art institutions share their views and contribute their opinions to the project. As a conclusion,
Acadia will publicly release, via Issuu, a two-volume digital book, the synthesis of her summerlong
explorations.

"Precious" Named Finalist in 14th Annual ARC Salon Exhibition
Precious, by Serena Bates, was named a Finalist in the Animal Category of the 2019 Annual
Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salon Exhibition.
The ARC Salon Exhibition is the largest and most prestigious competition in the world
for realist artists painting, sculpting, and drawing – with eleven categories and thousands
of works competing, culminating in a traveling live exhibition of many of the winning works.
For 2019, there were over 4,300 entries submitted from 73 countries. A total of 1,500 finalists
were selected.
